Welcome to my website. Included here is some imformation about my work, my life and some of my interests.
When I reached the age of eight, my Mother decided that I would benefit from ballet classes and, once enrolled with a local instructor, I was immediately hooked! My love for dance evolved rapidly and, at the tender age of fourteen, I was accepted into the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School. I made the traumatic move away from my family to follow my dancing goals and persevered through to graduation from Balmoral Hall in 1992, and from the RW Ballet School the following year. My professional dancing career began with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet Company, and was followed by a move to the Hartford Ballet Company in Hartford, Connecticut; I was, finally, living my dream. As with many such elusive things however, the dream ultimately dissolved in a series of injuries, which culminated in the difficult decision to retire from professional dance at a relatively early age, and left me to choose a second career. With a strong affinity for art in hand, I entered the Visual Communication Design Program at the University of Alberta, and graduated in May, 2000 with a Bachelor of Design. I began working for the Students' Union two days after I finished my last exam, and continue there, through a variety of positions, to this date. While still at University, I brought Corgis back into my life. Nico and his daughter, Nonnie, my companions for several years now, were joined in 2004 by puppy Berry, who has brought me back into the world of dog shows. To go with his winning ways in the show ring, Berry has also restored to me the value of patience, especially in coping with a teething puppy! To sumarize: I'm a Mac computer geek, font obsessed, crazy dog lady with wrecked ankles. |
